Baptism

Pre-baptismal instructions are the 2nd Monday of each month in the Braden Keller Center at 7:00 pm. Pre-register by calling the Parish Office at 830-931-2826.

Infant Baptism (Call us 830-931-2826 or email us : stlc1844@gmail.com)

Infant Baptism is for children from birth to age seven. 


Requirements for Parents:

  • At least one parent must be Catholic.

  • Parents must be registered parishioners OR they must have a letter of approval sent from their pastor to our parish office.

  • All first-time parents (baptizing their first child) and new parishioner parents must participate in our baptism preparation class prior to having a child baptized. â€‹

​Requirements for Godparents:

  • At least one godparent is required. This person must be at least 16 years old and a confirmed Catholic who lives their faith and is willing to accept the responsibility of supporting their godchild in the Catholic faith.

  • If there are two godparents, one must be male and one must be female.

  • A baptized, non-Catholic may serve as a Christian witness to the baptism, only if there is a proper Catholic sponsor who fully meets the requirements of a godparent. For more information on requirements for a godparent and/or Christian witness, please click the “Godparent Requirements” button.

Children Baptism

Baptism for children age 8 and older is celebrated after a 2-year preparation period. Parents who wish to have an older child baptized should contact the Faith Formation office to enroll. 

​

Reconciliation and Eucharist are celebrated in Grade 3. Preparation for First Holy Communion is a 2-year process beginning in 2nd grade. Enrollment is automatic when students are enrolled in Faith Formation classes.

 

Older students who have not celebrated the sacraments will be placed in a 2-year sacramental preparation program. Parents should contact the Faith Formation Office to make an appointment to enroll their child into the program. 

 

Confirmation preparation is a 3-year process normally beginning in grade 9. Older students are accepted, however, three years of catechesis are still required. Enrollment is automatic when students are registered for Faith Formation is August.

Adult Baptism

Adults who have not been baptized, are eligible to join the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) program. OCIA (also known as Becoming Catholic) will prepare them for full initiation into the Catholic Church.
